Tony Catapano: Graduated high school in Guilford in 1972 and attended the 1st auto body class offered at Eli Whitney Technical School. The same year he went to Appraisal school in Blairsville Pennsylvania. Tony grew up in the industry, working for his Family until 1979, when his father - Anthony Catapano, Sr - sold his shop. He then went to work as an Insurance Appraiser for 10 years. He currently holds a CT - All lines adjusters license, CT appraiser’s license, and is ASE certified. Tony has spent many years involved with softball and hockey including coaching at the High school and college levels. His amateur hockey team “Catapano’s” won many championships in the New Haven Senior Hockey league and his softball team “Bender Plumbing Supplies” had over 20 years of success that included state championships, Regional championships, and a National Championship in 1984. He has spent over 20 years volunteering for Special Olympics. In 1989 he received the Special Olympic Volunteer of the Year award at the local level, and in 1990 his Bender Plumbing Supplies team won the Volunteer of the Year award at the state level. In 1995 he was the Commissioner for Softball Games for the Special Olympic World’s games in New Haven CT. He is the Chief Financial Officer, office administrator, and works in sales and in the shop as required. He is also responsible for the 24 hour tow services.
Walter Catapano: At 6 years old took his go-cart engine apart and put it back together. From that point on he was constantly rebuilding, repairing, and making every possible moving toy he owned, go as fast as it could. Walt grew up in the industry helping out at his dads shop until 1979 when it was sold. This mechanical ability is what led to Walt starting his own business even before he graduated from school. In 1981 Walt graduated from Technical Careers Institute in West Haven, CT.
Walt moved his growing business from his home in Guilford to Branford, New Haven, and then in 1994 to its current location on RT 80 in North Branford, CT. Walt currently holds a Towing certificate with the State of CT. He is the President of the Corporation and is responsible for various daily operations including the purchasing of used cars, maintaninance of equipment and machinery, and towing.
Dmitry Tananykin: Completed his tour of duty with the military with the rank of Sergeant. Shortly after, he went to work as a fiberglass specialist at a boat yard in Groton CT. He also attended Thames State Technical College. He graduated with a degree in Management and Supervision. While working full time, he continued his education at Eastern Connecticut State University where he graduated with a degree in Business Administration.
Dmitry then worked for several major Insurance companies where he was elevated to Property Damage Supervisor. He obtained Licensing for Appraising and Adjusting for CT, New Hampshire, and Maine during this period.
Dmitry joined the team at Walt’s Auto Repair in the fall of 2000, where he is the General Manager in charge of all the daily operations and customer services. He currently maintains all of his licenses and handles customer insurance needs through out the claim process.
